Añaza Mountaineer Union (UMA), was created on 17 th of January in
1987, after a fusion of three mountain groups, from Santa Cruz de Tenerife:
Teide Mountaineer Group, Maha Mountaineer Group and Tenausú Mountaineer
Group (view logos in our Spanish pages). These groups had a long time in mountain´s world, from 10 to
15 years, and they decided to fusion to have a bigger number of members.
That idea was leaned by Canarian Mountaineer Federation (FCM), which since
then shares the locale with our group.
Since that date, Añaza, have been growing, until to be
in 1996 the mountain group with more members in Canary Islands. Nowadays,
we have got 150 members, some of them are in other island from our archipelago.
Our Main activities have been during these years:

Since 1995, FCM realices every year a course about Alpinism Iniciation in
the Spanish School of Hight Mountain of Benasque( Huesca), it have been many
members who have participated, contributing to form a group of people with
experience in winter alpinism.

Particularity it have been done a lot of activities and ascents to several
tops of mountains, bring out in the Alps: Monte Rosa (4.634 m), Cervino (4.474);
in Andes: Aconcagua (6.959 m), South Cerro Cuerno (5.642 m), Cerri Manso
(5.575 m), Morro Catedral (5100 m); and in Tanzania: Kilimanjaro (5.895 m).

Seven people went to Jbel Toubkal in the First Canarian Expedition, in the
Hight Atlas of Morroco, organizated by FCM in 1999.

It have been organizated talks in several schools.

UMA has, between it members, with titled teachers by Spanish Federation of
Climbing and Mountain Sports, and by Potholing Spanish Federation, which have
done several courses of mountaineer iniciation, climbing, potholing, and go
down to ravines, with other organizations, like Civil Protection from Tacoronte
and La Laguna, and fireman from Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Since 1993, the group organizes every year B.T.T Tour Tenerife Island, where
cyclist(members) go around the island during two days by traks ground.The
run (journey) is: Izaña, Madre del Agua, Boca Tauce, Barranco de la
Arena, La Esperanza.

Colaboration in organization of National camps of Spanish Federation of Climbing
and Mountain Sports, celebrated in Tenerife in 1995 and 1999.

In 1990 and 1995, we organizated Mountain Photography Crowds with a lot of
results of participation.

Añaza emphasize in Potholing, with a participation in the topography
of several vulcan tubes, remarking the assistance to Benisahare Canary Potholing Group in the exploration that it could join
Cueva del Viento and the Sobrado caves, making the largest vulcan tube of the world.
Abroad of Canary Islands, it had explored several kartics caves, reaching till -670 m deep.
